ZADEL -- Gerald Eugene - 75, a resident of the East Mountains for 12 years peacefully went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2011. He is survived by his five children: Michael Zadel of Colorado, Geri-Kay Sanchez (Carl), Joseph Zadel (Lisa), Juli Hagerty (Richard), and Marlea Hagerty (Brian) of New Mexico; Papa Jerry is survived by nine grandchildren: Kristi, Ryan, Tiffini, Alena, Britni, Brandon, Mindi, Brian, Joshua; and great-grandson Braiden. He was preceded by his parents, Joseph and Mary Zadel. And survived by his brothers and sisters, Robert, Darlene (Don), Marijo (Wally), and Greg (Diane). Jerry moved from California to New Mexico 25 years ago to be with his family. While in Albuquerque, he retired from Lee's Auto Service. He served in the Navy as a gunman onboard the USS Rochester (CA124) from 1954 - 1962. He was loved by all who knew him and will be truly missed. A rosary will be held on January 16, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., the mass will be held January 17, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Both will take place at Holy Child Catholic Church, 19 Camino del Santo Nino in Tijeras. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
