SHAW -- Gene Shaw, long-time Albuquerque resident, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2011. Gene was born in San Saba, TX, on December 9, 1914 and lived a blessed life for 96 years. Gene and her husband T.W. Shaw moved to Albuquerque in 1946 from Borger, TX. She was a homemaker while T.W. opened a Laundromat on 4th, Nob Hill Drug, and then later Holiday Bowl. Together, they raised their three children: Tony Shaw, of Kingsland, TX, Sydney Tregembo of Capitan, NM, and Vicki Cook of Hot Springs, AR; She has seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Gene was an exquisite seamstress as well as an avid reader. Until a year ago, Gene played Bridge weekly. She was a dedicated member of the University Church of Christ for over 60 years. Gene was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandson. Friends may visit French ~ University Chapel on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Gene's name to Albuquerque Christian Children's Home, 5700 Winter Haven Dr. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120-2643.
