HISER -- Thomas James Hiser, age 66, died suddenly on December 31, 2010. He was born June 20, 1944. Tom became seriously disabled in the latter years of his life, but during the prime of his time, he enjoyed reading, fishing and hiking in the high country of New Mexico and Southern Colorado where our family owned property for decades in the Conejos Valley nestled in the majestic San Juan mountainous peaks. For many years, he was a computer scientist and mathematician with Sandia National Laboratories until he retired early in 1988. A native of Albuquerque, he attended Sandia High School, graduating in 1961. He joined the US Navy where he served as a crew chief on Airedale aircraft looking for submarines off the coast of Spain. While in the Navy, serving Stateside in Maine, he met his first wife, Susan Desmond, and they brought two children into the world, Lisa Genrich (married to Brian Genrich) and Tricia Hiser Scheideman (married to Peter Scheideman) - all of whom have survived his death. Additionally, he is survived by his former second wife Kathy O'Brien, a dear and special lady who helped Tom raise his teenage children, namely Tricia. Tom was loved very much by his deceased parents James Brice and Virginia Mae Hiser. "And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all." I Corinthians 12:6. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Ave., Ste. 1700, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 or log-on to alz.org to make a tribute/memorial donation.
