DUFFY -- John Philip Duffy, 72, passed away suddenly on Sunday December 12, 2010. John was born in Springfield, IL, on October 10, 1938, and grew up in Chicago where he became a loyal Bears, Cubs, and Bulls fan. In 1954 his family moved west to Albuquerque where he graduated from Highland High School in 1956 and the University of New Mexico in 1960. At UNM he was active in student government and president of his fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha. In 1964 he received a juris doctorate from California Western University. John loved traveling. He and his wife Ruth were always off on some new adventure each year. Their last trip was this summer when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by visiting Boston and the Canadian Maritime Provinces. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Ruth Ballenger Duffy, his children Dana Duffy Bowen of Albuquerque, Darin Sean Duffy and wife Jennifer of Denver, CO, Devlyn Eileen Duffy of Albuquerque, and his grandson Joshua Michael Bowen of Albuquerque. Services will be held Saturday December 18, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church 10704 Paseo del Norte NE.
