MURRAY -- Verbal Battles Murray, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died Sunday, October 17, 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Pat Johnson and husband, Jim of Jacksonville, AR, Sue Geiwitz and husband, Lewis, Bonnie Dana and husband, Mike; son, Joe Battles and wife, Judy, all of Albuquerque; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; She is also survived by her sisters, Helen Cooper, Faye Shell, and Laura Hodges; and sister-in-law, Frances Davidson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tony Cailteux, great-grandson, Alex Layer, and great-granddaughter, Rainey Heintz. Verbal was a gifted interior decorator for Sears for many years. Homes all over Albuquerque are prettier because of her special touch. She was a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church. "Nana" was the most precious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and taught all of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids about loving Jesus, working hard, and taking care of family. Friends may visit French ~ Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Friday, October 22, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010, 12:00 p.m., at French ~ Wyoming Chapel with Pastor John Embry officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. In Nana's memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Alex Fund at Noon Day Ministries, P.O. Box 25451, Albuquerque, 87125.
