WARREN -- Rex Warren, local Corrales songwriter/singer/musician passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 12:58 a.m. He was a popular entertainer at many local music venues, private and corporate events, restaurants, and festivals around New Mexico and Texas. He produced two CDs: Indigo Blue with his Avocado Rock Band in 2001 and, most recently, Raise Your Voice with the band, Walking Rain. He was born on December 26, 1953 in Amarillo and moved to the Albuquerque area in 1989. Rex loved the outdoors including hiking, fishing, and skiing. He was a constant spiritual seeker and great friend to many. His sold forklifts for 20 years at Albuquerque Forklift and also sold estate. Rex is survived by his three brothers and their wives Fred and Marian Warren from Amarillo, Max and Pat Warren from San Diego and Britt and Gaylene Warren from Ruidoso; his nieces: Wendy, Stacy, Carrie, Gayla and Gennifer; one nephew: Miles ; four great-nieces Kelly, Victoria, Krissy, Kiera and five great nephews: Robert, Jordan; Gavin, Colin and Marcos. It was Rex's request to have a celebration of his life rather than a memorial service at a funeral home. Rex will be cremated and then take a trip to Hawaii next May with his former wife and love of his life, Jeanne Warren. A Rex Warren Tribute is being held for his close friends and family at the Corrales Bistro Brewery on Sunday afternoon, October 24, 2010. Many of his personal band members and other local musicians will be playing at this event.
