JENSEN -- Anna Rose Smith Jensen, 84, of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Monday, September 20, 2010 in Rio Rancho, NM. She was born May 26, 1926 in St. Augustine FL to Charles L. Smith and Martha Elizabeth Walker Smith. Anna Rose was raised in Columbus GA where she met and married Harry B. Jensen in 1958, they moved to Albuquerque in 1970. Her lifelong interest in politics began when her grandfather, Jackson Venus Walker a state Senator from TN, took her to see President Franklin Roosevelt. Her political path in New Mexico included her work for Congressman Manuel Lujan in his district office and as his campaign manager. She served as an assistant to New Mexico Congressman Steve Schiff until his death in 1998 at which time she retired. She worked hard to support Republican candidates and is a member of the National Federation of Republican Women -Metro FRW. She served on the American Heart Association Heart Ball committee. She is a former member of the Ambassadors Council to the College of Nursing at the UNM Health Sciences Center. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Anna Rose was preceded in death by her husband Harry B. Jensen. She is survived by her children, Bill Jensen, wife Marie, and their children Harry, A.J. and Cody of Albuquerque, Julie Nash, husband, Robbie, and their children, Joe, Amanda, and Jacob of Rio Rancho; sister Inez Hendry; and great-grandchildren Hayden, Krista Rose, Kale and Riley. Cremation services have been provided by Direct Services of Albuquerque. Graveside services for family only will be held Friday September 24, 2010, 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Reception for family and friends will be held from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Albuquerque Marriott 2101 Louisiana Blvd. NE.
