CHAVEZ -- Virginia M. Chavez, 83, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend was at home surrounded by her loving family when she went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 20, 2010. Virginia was born September 23, 1926 in Marquez, New Mexico. Virginia is survived by her loving husband Paul of 64 years; her wonderful children, Lucille Melbihess and Manny Torres, Michael Chavez and wife Lena Mae, Lenny Chavez and wife Margo, Carol Martinez and husband Mike; grandchildren, Eric Melbihess and wife Tracy, Anthony Chavez and wife Melissa, Yvette Melbihess, Michael Paul Chavez, Angela Barela and husband Michael, Chris Sanchez and fiance Athena, Victoria Sanchez, Stephanie Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Riley Melbihess, Tristan Chavez, Wyatt and Grady Chavez, Samantha and Isaiah Barela, Braeden and Alexis Sanchez; sisters, Lolita LeBlanc and husband Billy; brothers, Alex Marquez, Toby Marquez and Lovie, Leo Marquez; nephews; nieces and family. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Max and Tomasita Marquez; sister Helen Lucero; brother Florencio Marquez; sister-in-law Josie Marquez and mother-in-law Louisa Griego. Virginia graduated from Harwood Girls School in 1943. Virginia was a proud homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. Virginia will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A visitation will take place at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred Ave. N.W., on Thursday September 23, 2010 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with reciting of the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday September 24, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., St. Therese Catholic Church with Interment to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers are Eric Melbihess, Anthony Chavez, Michael Paul Chavez, Chris Sanchez, Mike Barela, Chris Marquez, and Yvette Melbihess; Honorary bearers are, Angela Barela, Victoria Sanchez and Stephanie Sanchez.
