NORWOOD -- W. B. (Dub) Norwood, age 83, passed away September 4, 2010, after a very long illness. He was born October 19, 1926, in Jacksonville, TX, and spent much of his youth in Friona, TX. He entered the Army in 1945 and was ready as a Mule Packer for the Artillery, but the war ended while he was en route to Japan. He was chosen as part of General Mark Clark's forces for the occupation of Vienna. After the war, he graduated from UNM with a degree in Accounting, and prior to graduation, was hired by Sandia Labs, from where he retired 38 years later. Also at UNM, he met the love of his life, Joyce Julian, to whom he was married 62 years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jeanette Baca. Dub is survived by his wife, Joyce; sisters, Lois Norwood of Friona, TX and Jerry Belle Blaylock and her husband LeRoy of Odessa, TX; brother Jimmy Norwood and his wife Nancy of Friona, TX; four children, Joylinda and her husband Tim Cowan of Enumclaw, WA; Jacqueline Norwood of Albuquerque, Jill Fanning and her husband Jeff of San Diego, CA, son John R. Norwood and his wife Kathy of Albuquerque and son-in-law Gilbert F. Baca of McIntosh, NM; six grandchildren; Jamie and Jessie Fanning, Jodie and Charlie Cowan, Jasper Hammond and Jenevieve Tomlinson; and six great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other friends and relatives. A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, September 11, 2010, 1:00 p.m. at Asbury Methodist Church, 10000 Candelaria NE.
