FENSTERMACHER -- Emma Catharine Fenstermacher, 81, died at her summer home in Vallecito, CO on August 5, 2010, after a several year battle with cancer. She was born February 22, 1929, in Lafayette, IN. Her parents were James Thomas Gow and Rhoda Roberts Dresser Gow. She graduated from Grandview High in 1946 and attended Ohio State College for two years before she moved to Portland, OR to attend modeling and secretarial school. She was a professional model from 1949-1953. She rode on the Portland Float and in the Pasadena Rose Bowl Parade. She worked at the Nevada Test Site during the Atom Bomb and Reactor Tests and moved to Los Alamos, NM in 1963 with her husband, Charles who worked at the Los Alamos Lab. She enjoyed a wonderful life with friends and family. She will be remembered as a friendly, giving, sweet lady. She is survived by her son Charles Eric and his wife Darcy; her step-daughter Susie Fenstermacher, her step-son Donald Fenstermacher; and three grandchildren Charles Dixon Fenstermacher , Kasey Leming and Robyn Fenstermacher. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine Louise; and her husband of 41 years, Charles. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made the Los Alamos Council on Cancer, PO Box 995, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
