HASEY -- Richard Joseph Hasey, Passed away on August 3, 2010 at the age of 78. He is in God's loving arms and at peace. He was born in Astoria, New York on February 3, 1932. He is survived by his sister, Loretta Dorn of Glen Cove, New York and his former wife, Carolyn, who was by his side until the end. Richard graduated from vocational school in food trades and did an apprenticeship at Hotel Chatham in New York. Upon graduation he proudly served with the US Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955. After his discharge, he worked for the Marriott Corporation in the food industry. He also was the chief Engineer for numerous buildings in New York City including the Empire State Building. His love of cooking followed him through out his life. His pot roast and stuffed trout were the best! Upon moving to New Mexico, he worked for Gene Hinkle as a building Supervisor. He retired at age 62, but, his strong work ethics called him back after several years. He then worked at Manor Care and lastly at the Montebello, retiring again in 2006. His strong mechanical abilities were an asset to the Montebello plus the residents loved him. He always gave his best to all of them and had a special ear for listening to them when no one else would. For those who knew him best, we will miss his quick wit, humor, his charm, his caring ways and the twinkle in his eyes. Beyond his sometimes gruff exterior, was a generous person with a heart of gold. Many thanks to his case managers, Sheri and Dorothy; to Marla his home health aide. A special thanks to VERY special doctor-David Peters. Without his care and concern, the past few years would not have been possible. Dr. Peters was a special angel that was brought into our lives. To Richard."Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows: but cheer up, for I have overcome the world John 16:33. Contributions can be made to Faith Lutheran Church at 10000 Spain NE or to the American Lung Association. Per Richard's wishes there will be no formal funeral and cremation has taken place.
