FINCH -- Richard Lee Finch, age 62, a life-long resident of Albuquerque, NM, entered into Eternal Life, after a battle against terminal cancer, on Saturday, July 3, 2010 peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He married his beloved wife of 44 years, Dorothy Mae Beal in 1966. Richard spent most of his life in New Mexico. In his early years he supported his family by working for the government and shoeing horses, later he became a truck driver, owner/operator, general contractor. Although, horses ran thick in his blood, Richard spent most of his life horseback later becoming a professional cowboy winning numerous awards nation wide. He left a valuable legacy with his horsemanship. Richard was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvil and Doris Finch; and his sister, Lucille Finch Tindell. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Mae Finch; daughter, Shelly Wenk and husband, Johnny; son, Jeff Finch and wife, Jaime; six grandchildren, Dillon and Dalton, Tisha, Ryeana, Kelsie and Clayton; brothers, Dwayne and wife, Diane Finch; brother, Arvil Finch, Jr. and wife, Nelda; and sister Judy Lucksinger and husband, Jim. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Old Cowboy Polo Association Arena, 7001 Coors Rd. SW, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Richard's name be made to the UNM Cancer Center, 900 Camino Del Salud, NE, Albuquerque, NM 87131.
