LOPEZ -- Richard G. Lopez, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on Friday, June 25, 2010. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret of 64 years. He is survived by his son, Joe Lopez; daughters, Gloria Sanchez and husband, Robert, Pauline Gonzales and husband, Pete; five grandchildren, Natalie Sanchez and partner, Catherine, Diane Archibeque and husband, Jerald, Craig Gonzales and wife, Darla, Peter Gonzales and Renee Gonzales; seven great-grandchildren, Janae, Jacob, Alexis, Nicholas, Austin, Nathan and Madison; a brother, Rupert; a sister Rita; and many nieces and nephews. He worked at Kirtland AFB as an aircraft welder, married in 1942 to his beloved wife Margaret. Richard proudly served his country as a corporal in World War II from 1945 to 1946. After leaving the Army he worked as an auto repairman and painter. Richard was hired as a welder at Sandia Labs, he retired after 32 years. There wasn't anything Richard couldn't build or fix. His family relied on his expertise and knowledge. Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 1st, 2010 at 10:30 am, at St. Edwins Parish at 2105 Barcelona Rd. S.W.
