LELAND -- Carol Lynn Leland passed away on Friday, May 28, 2010. She is survived by her mother, Shirley Smith-Hall; sister, Barbara Damrill and Dale Breaux; nephew, Justin; and niec,e Jessica, Dianne Baney and husband, John, Bernie Bowered; and aunt, Betty May Weiss. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Smith. Born in Chicago, IL., Carol was a Girl Scout Cadet. She received her nursing degree in El Cajon, CA. She worked in a six doctor clinic, then at Mercy Hospital in San Diego. In 1991, she formed the Albuquerque Angels Charity, donating truckloads of medical supplies all over the world. Carol worked with Rev. Dr. Billy Graham and worked with World Wide Ministries of St. Paul, MN. She worked as a docent at the San Diego Zoo, training red pandas from China. She worked as one of the clinic managers of Wildlife Rescue Inc. of New Mexico and also rehabilitated birds at home. She was a notary and mentor of children in the Albuquerque Public Schools. Carol was a member of Congregation Albert. Services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at Congregation Albert, 3800 Louisiana Blvd. NE, 87110.
