HERRERA -- Lucario Herrera, age 84, beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Monday, May 24, 2010. He was a life long resident of La Jara, NM, where he was a member of the Catholic community. Lucario served our country in the United States Marine Corps, during World War II. He retired after 32 of service from the Kennecott Copper Mines. He enjoyed farming, ranching, hunting and animals. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Leon Herrera and Nestorita Valdez Herrera; step-mother, Lola Herrera; his wife Juanita Herrera; a son Jessie; a daughter, Sandra; two grandsons, Alexander Ogle and Bill Max Waites; two brothers, Joe and Roque Herrera; sisters, Silve Valdez, Annabell Herrera and Armanda Herrera Aragon and husband Pablo; brother-in-law, Patrocinio Valdez; and sister-in-laws, Georgia and Lucille Herrera. Lucario is survived by his loving children, Kathy Crespin and husband Leroy, Rebecca Ames and Andrew Miranda and Lucario Herrera and wife Maxine; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving are his brothers, Armando Herrera and wife Lilly, Willie Herrera and Remejio Herrera and wife Verla; his sisters, Adelina Herrera and husband Leo; Trinada Madrid and husband Ruben, Mary Beeson and husband Curtis, Edna Valdez and husband Joe; his companion, Elsie DeLara; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Lucario will be greatly missed by all. Visitations will be today (Thursday) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cuba, NM, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. also at the Immaculate Conception Church, with Vicar James Walker as celebrant. Interment will follow at the La Jara Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Stanley Crespin, Gary Crespin, Antonio Miranda, Nicolas Crespin, Bill Waites and Antonio Crespin.
