MUNZLINGER -- Major Frederick David Munzlinger United States Air Force Ret., 71, of Albuquerque, passed away May 4, 2010 due to complications of leukemia. He was born June 21, 1938 to Karl and Irene Munzlinger. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geophysical Engineering at Tulsa University in 1960 and his Masters of Science Degree in Theoretical Mathematics at Florida State University in 1965. Fred had a distinguished scientific career in both the military and the private business sector. His career focused on research and development and took him all over the world. At one point in his career while working in London England with the European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (E.O.A.R.D.) he was the only U.S. scientist on the European Council of Science. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sara Bard Munzlinger; his four children, David Munzlinger, Kenneth Munzlinger, Diane White and Patricia Edgel; as well as his only granddaughter, Arianne Edgel; and eight grandsons, Jake White, Conner White, Ryan Munzlinger, Ethan Munzlinger, Charles Munzlinger, Owen Munzlinger, Kyle Munzlinger, and Ryan Edgel. Fred was preceded in death by his mother Irene Munzlinger of Las Vegas Nevada. Fred is also survived by his father Karl Munzlinger of Las Vegas Nevada; his two brothers Karl and Walter Munzlinger. Fred was an avid fisherman, and chess player. He enjoyed table tennis, oil painting and playing his violin. His favorite thing to do was watch and cheer during his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, on May 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with French ~ Wyoming Chapel located at 7121 Wyoming NE presiding over all arrangements.
