RUTHERFORD -- Catherine Elizabeth Rutherford lived from November 21, 1909, until March 27, 2010. The youngest of nine children, she was born in Iowa and made her home there until moving to Albuquerque in 1976. She and her husband were happily married for 56 years. Her interests centered around church, family, and friends. At church, her special mission was Christian education for children. From teaching Sunday school as a teenager, her responsibilities grew to being State Chairman for Christian Education for her denomination. After moving to Albuquerque, she continued to serve and express her faith as a Bible studies leader at La Vida Llena. Catherine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Twedt Rutherford, daughter, Kathleen Jungling, and two grandchildren. She is survived by two children, Jeanine Carithers and John Rutherford; nine grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly and prayed for daily. Catherine loved people. She enjoyed playing bridge, cooking for family and friends, and knitting gifts. She had a seemingly endless repertoire of games to play with children of all ages. Her loving and generous nature and abiding faith have inspired all who have known her.
