GABALDON -- Margie "Margarita" Gabaldon, 86, of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Born May 5, 1923, she was a lifelong resident of the south valley. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Alfredo Gabaldon; and daughters, Therese "T" Gabaldon Hudson and Gloria Gabaldon Keck. Margie is survived by children, Jeannette Collins and husband, Lon, Alfred Gabaldon and wife, Shirley, Deborah Montoya and husband, Eli, Barbara Gabaldon and husband, Sam Hernandez; grandchildren, Carianne and Ismael Felix, Dr. Alexander Corondoni, Marty and Teresa Mares, Jennifer and Pete, Bryan, Beverly, Rodney, Mario, Monica and David, William and Thomas; great-grandchildren, Melissa and Aaron Soriano, Cameron, Arianna, Amber, Alexander Jr., Justin, Natalie, Isaiah, Santiago, Cayman, and Mateo "T"; great-great-grandchildren, Aaron and Sophia; only surviving sister, Helen Saavedra; numerous nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors who loved her dearly. She worked for many years in the retail business of women's fine clothing stores such as Franklins and Margo's la Mode. Margie was an avid reader of history and for the most part, anything she could get her hands on. She was an excellent conversationalist. Margie was truly an American Patriot. Margie adored the military and prayed for their safety daily. Heir to the Atrisco Land Grant, she actively participated in any area of this interest. She never met a stranger. Margie always made you feel welcomed in her home. A rosary will be held Monday, February 22, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at French - University Chapel. Mass will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2010, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. Pallbearers will be Dr. Alexander Corondoni, Marty Mares, Bryan Gabaldon, Rodney Ashley, Mario Montoya, William and Thomas Porath.
