LOVORN -- Rita Ann Lovorn Loving mother and devoted grandmother, Rita Ann Lovorn (79) died at noon on Saturday January 23, 2010 in Austin, Texas. She fought hard to maintain her independence during her courageous six-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Rita was a long time resident of New Mexico and made many friends in Artesia, Roswell, Ruidoso, and Albuquerque. Rita was a self-educated avid reader, talented artist, dedicated homemaker, wonderful cook, and beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, great-aunt and friend who will be missed by all. Rita also worked in the clerical field for many years as office manager at Restlawn Memorial Park and Monuments, in Artesia, NM. She is survived by her four loving children: Susan Strong (Mark), Lee Lampe (Linda), Joanne Heilman, Jaye Biswell; six grandchildren: James and Andrew Lampe, Lianne Crump, Wendi Hundley, Laurel and Tessa Biswell; five great-grandchildren, Josephine, Jacqueline, Julianne, and Richard (Crump) and Luke Hundley; her life-long best friend Shirley Felton; nieces and nephews: Mary Lee Frahm, Mike, Jill and Janelle (Raschein), Teresa Catt, and Ruth Ann Brown. Rita was born in McGregor, Iowa on March 11, 1930 to Roy and Ruth Raschein. Her parents; and three siblings Neil Raschein, LeRoy Raschein and Alice Copeland precede her in death. Rita's husband Walter Hayes Lovorn, preceded her in death in Albuquerque (2005). Her ashes will be placed next to Walter's in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Tuesday February 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Santa Fe, NM.
