HOLDCROFT -- Howard (Hod) Holdcroft, 72, passed away January 14, 2010 in Sterling, Virginia after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Sioux City, Iowa on November 2, 1937. Hod was a 1956 graduate of East High School and a 1960 graduate of Morningside College, Sioux City, IA. He was in the trucking business for many years, as the President of Premier Trucking Company and Denver Midwest Truck Line. While in the trucking business, he was on the board of directors for the Nebraska and Colorado Motor Carriers. He also ranched for many years owning the Yolo and the Double A Ranches in Arizona. In 1991, Hod decided that selling ranches was easier than running them and founded Homestead Realty of New Mexico. Mr. Holdcroft leaves his wife, Barbara; children, Krista Garner (Norm), Cindy Romanowski (Aaron), and Cheri Holdcroft, daughters of Jane Holdcroft; Hunter Holdcroft, son of Jennifer Holdcroft; and stepchildren Carey Pellock (Mike), and Preston Pearce (Charise), children of Barbara Holdcroft. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Tatum, Karrin, Karly, Kendra, Kevin, Taylor, Christopher, and Reed, whom he loved and adored. He is also survived by two sisters, Susan Leonhardt and Jeanie (Lon) Reams. He will be missed by his dog Fats as well as many other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents, Howard and Bette Holdcroft; and brother-in-law Larry Leonhardt. Hod loved to travel the back roads, experience adventure, drink a glass of red wine and watch football. He maintained his trademark sense of humor to the end. A celebration of Hod's life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010 2010 at The Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340.
