HAUQUITZ -- Rachel S. Hauquitz of Albuquerque passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010. She was born in Albuquerque on November 14, 1921. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; and their daughter, Kim. She is survived by her daughter, Rachel (Kay) Howden of San Diego, CA; sister, Mary Ellen Harber and husband, Grant of Salmon, ID; brothers-in-law, Fred Hauquitz of Southampton, NY, and George Hauquitz and wife, Jo of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rachel was actively involved with Clarence in their jewelry business (Hauquitz Custom Jewelry Co.) until Clarence retired in 2002. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Rachel and Clarence liked to travel the United States and enjoyed spending time in Mexico with many of their close friends. They loved to dance and attended most of such events at the Ballut Abyad Shrine facility. Rachel was a caring and compassionate person and will be greatly missed. A special thanks to Rachel's nephew Scott and Faye Janzad (caregiver) who provided the necessary and continued support for Rachel's needs during her illness. Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at French - University Chapel.
