ALARID -- Pete Alarid ( huero) Life time resident of Santa Fe, passed away November 19, 2009. He was born June 30, 1927 to Richard and Carmen Alarid. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister Dolores Ortiz; and nephew Robert Ortiz. He is Survived by his wife Arlene Alarid; and their daughter Pam Alarid; his daughter Nancy Alarid; and son Richard Alarid from his first marriage; grandchildren Brad (Veronica), Jeff (Raven), Peter (Angela), Erica, Trevor; numerous great grand children; nieces; nephews; and the Carrillo family he loved so much. Pete attended Alvord Elementary School, graduated form St. Michael's high school and joined the US army in 1945. After the service he attend St. Michaels College where he participated in Basketball, football and baseball. Pete loved to participate in sports! He played basketball and baseball for the Santa Fe Fall Staffers. He had a left-handed hook shot that couldnt be stopped and was one of the best first basemen around. He played AAU Basketball against some of the greatest AAU teams and players there were. Petes love for basketball had him playing up in to his 70's making several trips with the Senior Olympic teams. One of his fondest basketball memories was playing with the El Ice Holes which include a team of his son Richard, grandsons Brad, Jeff and Peter, who were expected to run the ball and feed "grandpa" the ball under the basket. Fishing was a great love of his as well. He fished some of the best streams around and always made it a point to teach as many family members as possible how to fish. He spent much of his adult life working for Creamland Dairy, Valley Gold, and retired as a district manager of Northern New Mexico form Borden Dairy. He was a wealthy man in terms of the hundreds of friends he had all over the country. He was loved by many and he loved deeply. He was a generous big-hearted man to all his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all. A Visitation will be held at Saint Frances Cathedral on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family Funeral Service 1399 Luisa Street Santa Fe, NM 87505 (505) 984-8600
