APODACA -- Anthony Ray Apodaca, age 55, a lifelong resident of Valencia County, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at his home with his loving family at his side. Mr. Apodaca was very involved in the Los Lunas Community. He was an active member of the Democratic Party and also one of the founders of Lawyers Title. Mr. Apodaca was a past President of the Valencia County Bar Association and served the county as an attorney from 1979 until 2009. In addition, he sat on the School Board from 1987 until 1990, serving as President and Vice-President. He was a member of the Valencia Counsel of the Knights of Columbus and was a contributor to Los Lunas athletic programs. He also served as the Legislative Director for Congressman Bill Richardson in 1983. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Apodaca was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Sinforosa Apodaca; brother, Michael Apodaca; mother-in-law, Dora Rivera and a brother-in-law, Alfredo Rivera. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Cathy Apodaca; beloved children, Armando and wife, Sylvia, Gabriel and Estevan; three grandchildren, who were the love of his life, Andrew, Jacob and Lucas; brothers and sisters, Anna Mae Baca, Charles Apodaca, Romie Abeyta and husband, Miguel, Judy Hernandez, Debra Sanchez and husband, Max, and Johnny Ray and partner, Casilda. Also surviving are his father-in-law, Max Rivera, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Max Rivera, Jr. and wife, Patricia and Robert Rivera and wife, Ida; sister-in-law, Yolanda Rivera and numerous nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta beginning with a viewing on Tuesday, November 24 at 6:00 PM, followed by the Most Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Final viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with Father Hoi Tran officiating. Interment will follow in the Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gino Romero, Ray Caldwell, Carlos Apodaca, Anthony Rivera, Joaquin Rivera, Leon Montoya, Eric Rivera and Mark Sicneros. His close friends are invited to be honorary pallbearers.
