LLOYD -- Michael Ray Lloyd, born June 25, 1935, in Paraloma, Arkansas, as Floyd Walls Jr., died Tuesday, October 5, 2009, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Michael was honorably discharged after serving as a US Marine from 1953 - 1955. Upon completing his military service, Michael moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he lived with family and friends. Michael joined the St. Louis Auks Baseball Team as a pitcher and was an organizing member of the Midwestern Negro League from 1955 - 1958. As a student at St. Louis College for Court Reporting he was soon recognized for high proficiency, of 300 strokes per minute. Michael lived in the L.A. area from 1975 to 1995, mainly in Sherman Oaks, CA. He was, for a time, the artistic director at the Met Theatre in Los Angeles directing a highly praised production of playwright Roger Karshner's "A La Carte." A working actor, he held memberships in the GMA Talent Agency, Ellis Productions and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Michael began teaching acting classes using the Lawrence Parke method in Hollywood. After having developed and implemented his own unique teaching method, he moved to the Actor's Workout in North Hollywood. He also took over the business, Acting World Books and published The Hollywood Agencies, The Personal Managers Directory and Acting Teachers Directory. For over thirty years, ending in 1992, Michael Ray Lloyd assisted the U.S. Government on matters relating to the national security. In 1995 after moving to Las Vegas, Nevada, he worked as a counselor at the Center for Independent Living that provided mental health and substance abuse services for young adults. Later, Michael relocated to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he continued Acting World Books and founded 2B or Not 2B Actor's Studio. He shared his joy and skill of acting with many grateful students. Friends are welcome to meet at the Nine Mile High Chevron, north parking area, 12504 Central SW. Albuquerque, NM. 87121 ( I-40 Exit 149 Paseo del Volcan go south to central and east to the Chevron) on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. From there everyone will proceed to the designated gathering area.
