DALIA -- Martha Wilkinson Dalia, 94, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died on September 19, 2009. A native of New Mexico, Martha was born on May 21, 1915 to Dr. Samuel Wilkinson and Augusta Wilkinson in Belen. After Martha's father died in 1934, Martha, her Mother and younger sister Jane moved to Los Angeles where she married George C. Dalia, in 1938, at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Los Angeles. In 1939, Martha and George's first son, Jeffrey was born. In 1944, their second son, Chris was born. As George pursued his career in the Army, Martha did not return to her beloved New Mexico until 1969 after George retired. They had lived in China, Japan, Italy and Austria in addition to Army posts on the East Coast, Mid-West and California. Throughout their marriage, Martha and George were active in the Episcopal Church. When they settled in Albuquerque they joined St Mathews Episcopal Church and then St. Mary's. George passed on in 1990. Martha was an accomplished painter, her many paintings are displayed in the homes of friends and treasured by her family. Martha is survived by her son, Chris Dalia; her daughters-in-law, Margaret Dalia and Hedy Neumann Dali;, her granddaughters, Andrea Neumann-Mascis, PhD and Katherine Dalia; and her great-grandchildren, Danielle Potter, Caitlin Potter, and Scott Potter. A service celebrating the life of Martha Dalia will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 7, 2009 at St Mary's Episcopal Church, 1500 Chelwood Park Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, (505) 293-1911.
