LO SAPIO -- James A. (Jack) Lo Sapio, 84, formerly of Madison, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 in Rio Rancho, NM. Also known as "Jiggers" and "Doc" to his family and many friends, he was born November 4, 1924, in Madison, the 6th of 7 siblings, to Antonio Lo Sapio and Vincenza Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Ralph and is survived by his brothers, Anthony and Louis; and his sisters, Mary, Julia and Antoinette. A graduate of Seton Hall University with a B.S. in Business Administration, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and later served with Patton's Third Army in Europe during the Battle of the Bulge. Jack joined the A & P Tea Company while attending Seton Hall University and upon his return from WWII, he rejoined the A & P, where he was employed until his retirement. Jack married the former Theresa Ann Newman of Dover, NJ on February 28, 1947 in Madison where they resided until relocating to Rio Rancho, NM in January of 2001. Jack was devoted to and is survived by his loving spouse and best friend of 62 years, Theresa; sons James A. Jr. and wife Kathleen, Corrales, NM, Thomas F. and wife Joanne, Brookfield, WI; grandson, James II, Memphis, TN; granddaughters, Alessandra Brantl and spouse Craig, Allen, TX, Jessica Perez and spouse Ramon, Columbia, MD, and Lizzy, West Allis, WI; great-grandsons, Caden and Carson Brantl, Nicholas Perez and Sutton Lo Sapio and numerous nephews and nieces. A Catholic Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life Service is planned for January 16, 2010 at Daniels Funeral Home, 4310 Sara Rd, Rio Rancho, NM 87124 , phone (505)892-9920. Jack will always be remembered by his family as a sweet, gentle, affectionate and big-hearted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He brought happiness to EVERYONE he met with his quick smile and infectious laugh. If you knew Jack, you had a friend for life.
