GUTIERREZ -- Benjamin M. Gutierrez, 74, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by his family. Benjamin was employed during the course of his life by the Albuquerque Publishing Company, Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News. He was a loving father, son, grandpa and brother. He served as an usher for his church, St. Francis Xavier, for over 30 years. Benjamin loved to dance and he loved construction. He was always known to be building something. He was a great chile maker and he left something special with everyone whose life he touched. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert and grandson, Adrian. He is survived by his mother, Susie Gutierrez; the mother of his five children, Angelina Gamba; children, Darlene Manzanares and husband Ray, Bernadette Cala and husband John, Pamela Chavez and husband Fidel, Rick Gutierrez, and Rodney Gutierrez and wife Marlene; sisters, Rosalie Aguado, Eileen Gabaldon, Carol Gutierrez and husband Donald; aunt Elisa Miera; uncle Robert Miera and wife Stella; 11 grandchildren, Dominic, Jude, Angelica, Monique, Mark, Andres, Laura, Derek, Rodney, Phelicia, and Ashton; f our great-grandchildren, Angelique, Senaida, Christopher, and Monet; nieces and nephews, Daniel, Alex, Dion, Chris, Carlo, Cathy, Ashley, Andrew, and Anthony; and numerous extended family and friends. A Rosary will be prayed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 820 Broadway SE, Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis followed by internment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dominic, Jude, Andres, Rodney, Mark, and Daniel; honorary pallbearers will be Alex, Angelica, Laura, Monique, Phelicia and Ashton.
