DAVIS -- H. Orien Davis quietly departed this life in the early hours of September 21, 2009. Orien was born in Polk County, Nebraska on August 20, 1914. He was the eldest son in a family of eight children. He enlisted in the Army during World War II and remained in the Army until he retired, Command Sergeant Major at the JFK Special Warfare Center, Ft Bragg, NC in 1962. He graduated from North Texas State University and taught school in Albuquerque and the Navajo school at Ft. Wingate, NM. He retired from teaching in 1978.Orien was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Louise. Orien is survived by his son, Lawton Davis and his wife, Lynn Meyer Davis and his daughter, Cynde Davis Coker and her husband, Robert Coker. Orien is also survived by his three grandchildren, Matthew Davis and wife Jean, Noel Davis-Westlake and husband, Kip Westlake and Jessica Lee Floyd; his great granddaughters, Ainsley and Alea Davis-Westlake and Olivia Davis will greatly miss him. Orien's funeral will be held Thursday, September 23 at 10:00 am at French Mortuary, on University Blvd NE. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 pm.
