AZUA -- Carlos Richard Azua. CORRECTED SERVICE DATES. Carlos was born November 4, 1952 in Gallup, NM to Joseph and Estefanita Azua, and passed away in Albuquerque on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 after a long illness. Carlos attended and graduated from Gallup High School. He was a member of the Rainbow Coalition and the Elks Lodge where he was also employed. Even though Carlos was disabled, he always made his independence clear. He could not be held down. He enjoyed music and sports, especially football. He loved, chili, beans, and eggs. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. Carlos was preceded in death by his father, Joe Azua; and brother, Bernard Azua. He is survived by his loving mother Estefanita, "Fannie" Gurule; four sisters, Jo Anna Parra, Stephanie Hagberg, Christina Azua, Paula Azua-Stofleth and husband, Jerry; six brothers, Joe Azua, John J. Azua and wife, Yolanda, Tom Azua and wife, Dianna, Robert Azua, Fred Azua, and Ben Azua; as well as several aunts; uncles; cousins; and other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Memorial Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gallup, NM, on Saturday, September 5, 2009. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the Rosary. Burial will take place afterwards at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Gallup, NM.
