VALLEJOS -- Gilbert Joe Vallejos, 86, a resident of Los Lunas since 1997, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evangelia Vallejos; grandson, Andrew Vallejos; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his children, Corrina Vallejos, Alvin Vallejos and wife, Betty Ann, Sylvia Sanchez and husband, Elias Sanchez, and Jerry Vallejos and wife, Pamela Vallejos; eight loving grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five brothers; four sisters; and many other loving family members and friends. Toward the end of his life he was cared for by his granddaughter Nicole Santiago and her husband, Martin Santiago. During his life Mr. Vallejos owned a service station in Albuquerque and also retired from Blake's Lotaburger after 19 years of service. He also worked with the Santa Fe Railroad as well as a school bus operator. In his free time Mr. Vallejos loved the outdoors spending time hunting, fishing, and camping. Throughout his life he was a great friend and loving family member to many, he will be greatly missed. A rosary will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW. A mass will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009, 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE.
