MACDOWELL -- Francis MacDowell, of Highland, entered into rest on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 84. Son of the late Frederick and Ruth Hasbrouck MacDowell, he was born on August 9, 1924 in Newburgh. Francis proudly served in the US Army 65th Infantry Division during WWII. He was a member of the Empire State Passenger Association, National Association of Railroad Passengers, Association of Former New York State Troopers, the Iroquois Club, Bethel, NY, Hasbrouck Family Association and longtime member of White Lake Fire Dept, White Lake, NY. He is survived by his loving children, Patricia Sullivan of Highland, John McGinn and his wife Karin of Seattle, WA, Francesca MacDowell of Albuquerque, NM, Tani Hyland and her husband Vincent of Highland; his grandchildren, Sean and Megan Sullivan, Cody and Kelly Williams, Katherine, Vincent and Patrick Hyland; a sister Jeanne Bull of Blooming Grove; brothers, Albert MacDowell of Newburgh and Frederick MacDowell of Edinburg, TX and many nieces and nephews. His niece Jeanne Brundage, her husband Ted and their children graciously shared their home with him in recent years. He also leaves behind a dear friend, Rosemary Bennici. Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory. Memorial visitation for Francis will be held on his 85th birthday, Sunday, August 9, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney, Ave., Newburgh, NY.
