HATHORN -- Earl Harold Hathorn passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 15, 2009. His beloved wife of 63 years, Dawn, was by his side. He was a native New Mexican born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, May 5, 1922. He is preceded in death by his parents; Irvin and Maggie Hathorn; his brother Henry Hathorn; and his two sisters Pearl Bailey and Opal Sheppard. He has one remaining sister, Ruby Steele of Comanche, Texas. He is survived by his three daughters; Donna Andersen and son-in-law, Gary Andersen, Niki Hathorn and Natalie Hathorn. He also leaves two very loving grandchildren; Garrett Andersen and Tara Alexander. Earl and Dawn moved to Las Cruces in 2000 after living in Cliff, New Mexico for 46 years. Mr. Hathorn served as principal at the Cliff School for 27 years. A viewing will be held at Getz Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2009. The services will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Monday, July 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held immediately after the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
