OGDEN -- Martin Ogden, 93, a resident of Albuquerque for more than 20 years, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2009. He was loved and respected by those who knew him for his high standards of commitment, duty, and responsibility. Martin was a member of the Army Signal Corps and an employee of the U.S. Postal Service as an inspector and district manager for thirty-five years. During his decades of retirement, he generously contributed thousands of hours of his time volunteering in hospitals and community centers. He was a committed, accomplished, and inspiring golfer, playing weekly until a few months before his death. Martin is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Stenerson and her husband Vincent; his granddaughter, Jennifer Cashman and her husband Carlos; his grandson, Justin Stenerson; and his brother, Edward Ogden. Martin was predeceased by his wife, Gertrude in 2004 and by his daughter, Ellen, in 2003. We will miss and mourn Martin's stature, both in strength and virtue. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to MIT for the Ellen Ogden Taylor Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks should be made payable to MIT and mailed to Bonny Kellerman, Director of Memorial Gifts; 600 Memorial Drive, W98-500; Cambridge, MA 02139. Please include a note stating that your gift is in memory of Martin Ogden.
