CONWELL -- Kenneth L. Conwell, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1939, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the VA Hospital. He is survived by his son, Kenneth L. Conwell II; his daughter, Pamela Whitfield and her husband, Daryl; one grandson, Shawn Michael Whitfield; and several nieces and nephews, all of Albuquerque. Kenneth was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Kathleen E. Conwell on March 17, 2009. He was born on June 3, 1927 in Wheeler, TX to James and Edna Davis Conwell and grew up there until the age of 12 when he and his family moved to Albuquerque. Kenneth was a graduate of Albuquerque High School. After high school he entered the U.S. Navy during WW II and served for 1 year till the war ended. Kenneth married Kathleen Mann on September 12, 1947 in Albuquerque. He was a Mason and a Shriner and was President and CEO of K.L. Conwell Corp. for over 50 years. Kenneth was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Thursday, May 28, 2009, 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Friends and relatives may visit with the family Wednesday, May 27, 2009, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kenneth's name to Shriners Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
