LACKEY -- Dorothy Colleen Lackey, known as Colleen by friends and family, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at the age of 79 in her Albuquerque home. She was born on July 26, 1929 to Ralph and Lucy Coppala. She is survived by her daughter, Alayne White and Alayne's husband, Joe of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Alex Lackey and fiancee Vanessa Strobbe, Colleen Lackey, Aaron White and his wife, Ashley, and Adam White and Rachel Carter; sister-in-law, Sue Coppala of Charlotte, NC; four nieces and nephews and their families; special friends, Jan Carrilo, Susie Maes, Barbara Martin, and Julie Kesti. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her son, Robert Lackey on March 2, 2008; and her brother, Leonard Coppala. Colleen was a remarkable piano player, singer and artist. She crafted exquisite needlepoint pictures and was wonderfully talented with watercolor. She was a kind and gracious spirit who brought life and laughter to those she loved. Her relentless support and care gave many the opportunity to live lives they otherwise wouldn't have been able to, and her generosity will never be forgotten. A private time of remembrance will be held at the family home on Monday, April 27, 2009.
