MONTOYA -- Genevieve C. Montoya, 75, was born in Albuquerque, NM June 6, 1933. A resident of Albuquerque, she passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was a parishioner for over 30 years and served as a Fiesta volunteer. Genevieve was also a member of Sacred Heart League, serving as vice-president in 1994, president in 1995, secretary for many years, as well as promoter, resigning due to health reasons. Genevieve volunteered at the Senior Center as well and was involved in teaching the Goldenettes, who came in third place in the city talent show two times. They were known for their performances in several rest homes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Montoya and son, Gene Montoya. Genevieve is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Ginger) Chavez and husband, Joe; three sons, Roland and wife, Deborah, John and wife, Rose, and Gerald; four granddaughters, Revea, Elisha, Kassondra, and Natalie; three grandsons, Roland II, Carlos, and Joshua; five great-grandchildren, Roland III, Monica, Brandon, Angelique, and Celia; sister, Juanita Cox; as well as other family and friends who loved her and will miss her. Services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, Wednesday, April 8, 2009. The Viewing will begin at 11:30 a.m. A Rosary will be recited at 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Roland Montoya II, Carlos Montoya, Joshua Chavez; great-grandsons, Roland Montoya III, Brandon Montoya; and nephew, Danny Montoya. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Sacred Heart League and members of the Senior Center. Any Flower arrangements may be sent to Direct Funeral Services.
