BERGSTRESSER -- May Holmes Bergstresser, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009 at the age of 96. She was born on October 8, 1912, in Springfield, Missouri. She spent her childhood years in Missouri. May was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. She married Karl S. Bergstresser in 1934. They lived in Fargo, ND, Ottawa, KS, Philadelphia, PA, and in Los Alamos, NM, where they remained for 35 years before moving to Albuquerque. She has been a resident of San Antonio since 1999. May worked as a nuclear microscopist in the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory. She was a charter member of United Church of Los Alamos. She was known for her quick wit, love of words, ability to recite poetry, and her devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years. She is survived by her four children, Robert of Berkeley, Thomas and wife Laura Dickinson of Albuquerque, Paul and wife Rebecca of Dallas, Martha Ramos and husband Reyes Ramos of San Antonio; grandchildren Richard Bergstresser, Sara Bergstresser and husband Erick Castellanos, John Dickinson and wife Terri, Maria Dickinson, Daniel Bergstresser and wife Kimberly Nicoll, Laura Bergstresser and husband J. Richard Kendall, Miguel Halverson-Ramos and wife Faith, Paul Ramos and wife Jennifer, Susanna Ramos Ebenstein; great-grandchildren Jacob Ebenstein, Lilly and Will Kendall, Isabel and Madeline Dickinson, and Mae Bergstresser. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service will be held at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church, 6739 Callaghan Road, on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Covenant Fund, Morningside Ministries, 700 Babcock, San Antonio, Texas 78201.
