NIMURA -- Raymond " Kana" Nimura, long time resident of New Mexico, born May 29, 1923, passed away March 22, 2009. He is survived by his caring wife Michiko; son, Robin Nimura; daughters, Rae Freese, Carrie Jo Hamilton, April Steinbeck; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Edna " Fudge" Sato and brother, Richard Nimura. Raymond grew up as one of seven children on the family hog farm in Southern California. He enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after the beginning of World War II, and served a total of 12 years as a Translation Officer for the US Army Military Intelligence Service. During this time, his family was interned at the Amachi Relocation Camp in Southern Colorado. This is where he met Michiko, who was to become the great love of his life. He will be remembered by his family for his gentle manner and unconditional, non-judgmental love. His steady, calm support will be missed by all who loved him.
