RUE -- Benjamin Harden Rue, 90, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 after a long illness. Ben was born in Hatch, New Mexico to Mr. and Mrs. Amos Rue on Saturday, December 7, 1918. He married his wife, Janette of 69 years on December 12, 1940. Ben was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Blevens and Henry Rue. Ben served in the U.S. Army from November 1942 to December 1945 and was a World War II Veteran. He served with the 363rd engineers, Special Service Regiment in Iran for 32 months. Ben supervised up to 15 construction equipment mechanics in a unit shop. After leaving the U.S. Army with an Honorable Discharge, Ben went to work in the construction industry, supervising many highway and airport paving projects for 26 years. Ben was an avid Denver Bronco fan with John Elway as his hero. He also was an avid sprint car fan with Steve Kinser, also his hero. Ben was also a dedicated hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Janette of Albuquerque; son Wayne Rue and wife, Colleen of Rio Rancho; grandson, Wayne Rue Jr., and wife, Diana of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Harvey of Albuquerque and sister Millicent Purcella of Roswell, NM. Services will be held Monday, March 30, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel with Burial to follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit, Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018. Pallbearers will be Moe Finley, Rusty Martinelli, Benny Kincheloe, Mike Bullard, Mike Anderson and Chuck Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Elden Banks, Earl Zinn, Gene Bassett, Rich Salls, Howard Fredrickson, Darwin Miller.
