O'KEEFE -- Margaret "Meg" O'Keefe, 71 a resident of Albuquerque for more than 40 years, passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2009 after a lengthy illness. She was born Monday, September 27, 1937, on her parent's ranch near the town of Upton, WY, to the late Everett and Vera Murray. She attended Upton Grade School and graduated from Upton High School in 1954. She went to nursing school in Boulder, CO and worked on her R.N. at St. Lukes Hospital in Denver, CO. Meg later received her Bachelor's degree in Hospital Administration. On September 8, 1958, she was united in marriage to David M. O'Keefe in Denver, CO. In 1964, Margaret and David moved to Albuquerque. In 1979, Margaret, affectionately called, "Meg" was elected to Albuquerque School Board where she later became president and served with distinction for many years. She worked at St Joseph's hospital as an emergency room nurse for over 35 years. Meg is survived by her sister, Pauline Hagerman and husband, Bill Hagerman; her ex-husband, David O'Keefe; her two sons, Michael O'Keefe and wife, Bertha O'Keefe; Daniel O'Keefe and wife, Mimi O'Keefe; daughter, Mary Ann O'Keefe and husband, Jerry Simmons. Meg is also survived by her five grandchildren, Matthew Simmons, William Simmons, Thomas Simmons, Brandon O'Keefe, Tyler O'Keefe; and a granddaughter on-the-way. Funeral services for Meg O'Keefe will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Place NE, Albuquerque, NM. Entombment will be held in the town of Upton, WY. We would like to thank all of the staff of the University of New Mexico Hospital Medical ICU for their wonderful care and support.
