RUNDLES -- Dr. Charles Henry, passed away the morning of Friday, January 30, 2009 at his home "Shangri-la", in Los Chavez, NM. He was born in Bloomington, Illinois, July 15, 1919. He grew up on a farm near El Paso, IL and attended a one room rural grade school. Earned BA in Chemistry at the University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana, IL in 1940 and graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1943. Resident at Charity Hospital New Orleans, LA 1943-1946. Chief OB Gyn in Artesia, NM from 1948-1952. He then moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1952, started a private practice OB Gyn. Privileges in OB Gyn during stay at Albuquerque in Presbyterian Hospital, St. Joseph's, Bernalillo County Indian Hospital and Veteran's hospital. Was Chief of OB Gyn section for two years at Presbyterian and St. Joseph's, six years at BCMC. He was a member of Local County Society and South West OB Gyn Society and Mexican American Med. Society. Also, a member of American Col of OB Gyn and the American Board of ob Gyn. Dr. Rundles flew his own private plane to do surgery in Gyn at Grants, Socorro, Alamogordo, Hobbs and Carlsbad in his early practice. He logged over 2500 hours as a private pilot and had instrument license. He retired in 1978. He married Magda M. Rundles an RN and they traveled the world together and skied at Purgatory, CO many, many winters. Between scuba, fishing in Alaska and playing tennis they enjoyed life to the fullest.
