PRUDEN -- Harry Roy Pruden, 83, an Albuquerque resident since 1952, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sue; his son, Larry and wife, Gail, of Monroe, GA; and brothers, Marion Pruden of Mooresville, IN, and Jack Pruden of Tampa, FL. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, the European-African Middle Eastern Theatre, and the American Theatre during World War II. He piloted a Higgins landing craft that carried the Allied invasion forces at Utah Beach during D-Day, 1944. He graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and received a Masters Degree in Education at the University of New Mexico. He taught at Inez Elementary School and was principal of Jackson Junior High before ending his 30 year career with the Albuquerque Public Schools as personnel director. Harry was beloved by all who knew him and he never met anyone that did not become his friend. For years, he was a leader in the Boy Scouts of America and was the director of YMCA Camp Shaver in Jemez in the 1960's. His passion for golf was surpassed only by his love for his family. He will truly be missed. Friends are invited to a memorial service to be held Tuesday, February 3, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Humane Association of NM, 615 Virginia SE, 87108.
