RAEL -- Jose Manuel Rael, age 65, passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Jose Manuel was born September 29, 1943 in Clayton, NM. Jose proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam conflict. Jose continued throughout his life to assist his fellow veterans in any way that he could. He was very generous of heart and had an outrageous sense of humor. His family and friends will miss him dearly. Jose was preceded in death by his son, Cruse; his parents, Rosendo and Virginia Rael; two sisters, Pauline Moreland, Jean and her husband Jim Talley; three brothers, Charlie, Joe and Richard. Jose is survived by one daughter, Renee Herrera; four grandchildren, Scott, Kay, Jade and Adam; one great-grandson, Kaheem all of Albuquerque, NM; four stepdaughters, Ginger, Shannon, Samantha, and Bobbie of Clayton, NM; 12 brothers and sisters, Dorothy and her husband Donato Sanchez of Bernalillo, NM, Belen Simoes and her husband Joe (deceased) of Portales, NM, Addie and her husband Louis Montoya of Clayton, NM, Gloria and her husband Bruce Merecki of Silver City, NM, Leo and his wife Paula of Mishawaka, IN, Patsy and her husband Pete McDonald of Loveland, CO, Dennis and his wife Judy of Amarillo, TX, Lucina and her husband Tommy Montoya of Clayton, NM, Dominic and his wife JoJo of Clayton, NM, Casimiro (Cassie) and his wife Tina of St. Petersburg, FL, Freddie and his wife Irene (deceased) of Las Cruces, NM, Johnny Rael of Portales, NM; one sister in law, Viola, wife of Joe Rael (deceased) of Albuquerque, NM and hundreds of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who loved and will miss him. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jose at San Ysidro Catholic Church, 5015 Corrales Rd., on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. James Vance and Deacon Louis Montoya. His remains will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with US Marine Honors on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. NW.
