HUGHS -- Juanita Blea Estrada Hughs was born March 17, 1913 to Celso and Cipriana (Nieto) Blea at Tremintina, NM. She peacefully passed away January 5, 2009 at Garden City, KS. She lived in New Mexico, Louisiana, and Kansas. Mother married Juan B. Estrada on August 30, 1928. To this union were born four sons and seven daughters. She had five daughters and one son from dad's first marriage. Dad passed way April 20, 1976 leaving her very lonely. She married John Hughs on January 15, 1979 he passed away December 10, 1991. She was a homemaker, doing lots of canning and making quilts for her family. She was a member of the Mennonite Church, Transylvania, LA. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 p.m. at Dunn Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 9, 2009. Burial at Mennonite Church Cemetery, three miles North of Tucumcari on Hwy 104. Survivors include seven daughters - Priscilla and Albert Mirabal, Goni and Pablo Lopez, Eleanor and Don Lopez all of Tucumcari, NM, Alice and Ernest Baerg of Transylvania, LA, Sophia and Verle Johnson of Ft. Sumner, NM, Anita and Jesse Loucks of Detroit, TX, Louella and Paul Loucks, Garden City, KS; and three sons Amadeo and Sylvia Estrada of Garden City, KS, Paul and Liz Estrada, and Daniel Estrada, all of Tucumcari, NM. Three step-daughters Carlota Trujillo of Logan, NM, Carrie Pacheco of Albuquerque, NM, and Beatrice Ensz, of Louisville, GA; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; all her siblings; both husbands; one son; three step-daughters; one step-son; three step-sons-in-law; four great-grandchildren.
