SCHER -- Jeanne N. Scher, 81, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2008, after a year-long battle with cancer. She was born Norma Jeanne Nonken, on August 23,1927, in Peabody, Kansas. Raised in El Dorado, Kansas, she left following graduation to pursue a higher education. After obtaining a Masters Degree, she spent over 20 years teaching youth--from the severely disabled, to the gifted-- in El Dorado, KS, Los Alamos, NM, and Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by three daughters; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many, many friends and relatives; and her beloved dogs, Ripley and Shatara. She worked relentlessly for equality. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, books, and clear, sunny days. A Celebration of Her Life will take place on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. at Aspen Funeral Alternatives, 1935 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE Albuquerque, NM 87112.
