BROWN -- Norma Ann Brown, age 95, of Lodi, CA, passed away on December 25, 2008, She was born on December 27, 1912 in Flora Vista, New Mexico to Russell H. and Jessie Alonie (Hill) Howard. Norma came to California in 1948 with her husband and children, and they settled in Long Beach. She continued her education at Long Beach State, becoming a primary school teacher, and ultimately a Speech Therapist in the Compton School District. She moved to Lodi in 2000. Norma 's favorite pastimes were traveling, bridge, and she was an avid reader. She traveled across the U.S. and to many foreign countries. Her real joy was playing bridge with her friends and also duplicate bridge. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bernard Brown; son, Gary Gilbert Brown; grandson, Charlie Bernard Brown; her mother and father; three brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by her son Donald J. Brown (Patti) of Grants Pass, OR; daughter Marion M. Horstmann (Herb) of Lodi, CA; grandchildren, Tore M. Maggio (Laurie) of Lodi, CA, Cheryl J. Figone of Stockton, CA, Charlene A. Patten (Pat) of Simi Valley, CA, Carl R. Maggio of Wilton, CA, Matthew W. Horstmann of Murrietta, CA, Tamera Mesman (Bruce) of Grants Pass, OR, Casandra Reed of Anaheim, CA, Ben Brown of Grants Pass, OR, Bonnie Brown of Grants Pass, OR, and Jenny Davis (Bret) of Tigard, OR; also 22 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Norma lived a long and full life, and will be missed by her family and friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009, 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lodi, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Norma's memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 701 S. Pleasant Ave, Lodi, CA 95240.
