MANN -- Thomas Richard Mann was born on May 2, 1943, in Rockford, IL and passed away on December 16, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. He was the youngest of three sons born to Robert William and Lora Wallace Mann. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Wallace Mann, his parents-in-law James W. and Mary A. Beattie, his best friend Michial Emery and Mike's daughter Robin. His family, who loved him and will miss him so much, includes his wife of 40 years, Mary E. (Liz), his daughter Kate and son Mike, Mike's wife Carla and two precious granddaughters, Marin and Tatum, and his brother William A. Mann and his family. He is further survived by his employees whom he considered family as well. Tom was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a M.S. in Photogrammetric Engineering. He was a fiercely patriotic US Army and Vietnam veteran, and it was his honor to serve his country so well. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1972. He worked at Bohannan Westman Huston for several years and in 1977 he and Liz incorporated Thomas R. Mann and Associates, a photogrammetric engineering firm. Several years later they purchased a Colorado aerial photography firm and formed New Mexico Aerial Surveys. The success of these two companies, which Tom built from the ground up, attests to the integrity of this man who treated everyone honestly and fairly. His great love for his family and friends was frequently expressed in his actions. He was always there for all of us and we are better for all his love and concern. Tom's work was his passion but he also loved to fish for hours or days with his friend Mike or his brother Bill. He also did a lot of hunting when he was younger and never hesitated to tell his fishing and hunting stories to anyone who would listen. Tom's family would like to sincerely thank all the health care professionals who helped him through his courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held Friday, December 19, 2008, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE with Pastor Rick Donaho presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to David Westphall Veterans Foundation, PO Box 608, Angel Fire, NM 87110. Tom was able to visit the Angel Fire Vietnam Veterans Memorial a few years ago and found great peace there. We wish him peace now. When you died The world did not stop People did not pause To honor To reflect To catch a painful breath Birds did not break their song The earth did not skip a spin Only we who loved you Felt it end for Uncounted beats.
