HAGER -- Frank Hager was born in Pilot Point, Texas on Thursday, November 1, 1928, All Saint's Day, and though he wasn't a saint in every sense of the word, he was a true saint to his family and friends. He passed away on Monday evening, December 8, 2008. He spent most of his early years in Oklahoma, and moved to Dumas, Texas, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Dru Brown. Their relationship has endured for over sixty years. They moved to Albuquerque in 1949 and started their own business, Hager Lawn Sprinkler. After a seven year period spent in South Carolina where Frank worked on the Savannah River Project, they returned to Albuquerque in 1959 to resume with the irrigation company. Over the years many parks, schools, and golf courses including UNM South were watered with systems installed by Frank's company. They lived in Farmington for a number of years where Frank worked on the power plants. On their return to Albuquerque he designed and built Roll'n Home Park which has flourished for thirty five years. Frank was active in many community organizations especially the Ballut Abyad Shrine where he was a member and captain of the Shrine Patrol and on the Fez Club Committee. He enjoyed driving the old fire truck in recent years. He was also Hospital Chairman for 20 years and coordinated mini-clinics for crippled children and arranged travel for many to the Los Angeles Shrine Hospital for free treatment. He was a member of the Board of Directors of that hospital for eight years. He was a member of the Shriners of North America, the Masonic Lodge Temple 60, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Albuquerque Rotary Club, and the New Mexico Pipe Trades Local 412. He was also a lifetime Democrat and supporter of the party. Frank is survived by wife, Dru; three children, Noel Hager and wife, Susan, Renee Claffy, and Brent Hager and wife, Kim; grand children, Gina Sims and husband, Scott, Cara Claffy, Evan Hager and wife, Sovereign, Todd and Sarah Hager, Bonnie and Lexi Hager; great-grandchildren, Zach, Ava and Grant Sims. Also surviving are Frank's sisters, Movis Butler and Collette Hager. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was generous and helpful to one and all. He will be greatly missed.
