MERKELZ -- Catherine " Cathy" Merkelz, 73, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 3, 2008. She is survived by her best friend Maria Klein; brother, Charles Merkelz his wife Olga of San Antonio, TX and many nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her sister and brother -in-law Marie and Gene Butz, and two brothers and their wives, Art Merkelz and wife Eleanor, and Frank Markels and wife Anne. Cathy was a member of the 3rd order of St. Francis of Assisi and was an associate of the school sisters. Cremation has taken place. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, December 9, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. with funeral services following at 9:00 a.m. at the Shrine of St. Bernadette, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE.
