JONES -- Kay H. Jones passed away quietly in her sleep due to complications with cancer on the morning of Thursday, November 20, 2008. She was 80 years old. Her husband, Gerald A. Jones, who she was married to for 57 years, passed away earlier this year. Kay is survived by her two children, daughter, Donna Steel of Kirkland, WA; son, Eddy Jones of Jacksonville, FL; and two granddaughters, Miranda Bieker and Emily White. Kay and Gerald's oldest daughter, Ruth Kern, passed away in 2003. Kay was born, Hideko Cho, in Tokyo, Japan on February 27, 1928 and married her Army husband in 1948. Together they moved to the United States in 1952. It was extremely difficult to adjust to American life after World War II, but she learned English and proudly became a U. S. Citizen in 1964. Kay was an amazing woman with a gift for making friends with anyone. She could not have been a better mother or grandmother. Kay loved to travel and as recently as two weeks ago visited her daughter in Seattle, WA. There are no immediate plans for a Memorial Service, but as soon as one is planned, her family will inform everyone. Her family and her circle of good friends will truly miss her.
